Hello and welcome to our small corner of the internet! I am so happy you found us! My name is Leisel Rowe... I am a wife, homemaker, mommy to 4 miniature versions of my husband, lover of all things vintage or antique, nature/flower enthusiast, and now a business owner! A couple of years ago, while Christmas shopping for my boys, I made a new resolve. Tired of plastic, noisy, disposable toys lying all over the house, toys that get played with for a short time and then tossed aside, I decided to find toys that were durable, imaginative, and unique. I did hours of research, but kept coming up empty. Everything I came across was either made out of cheap/toxic materials, and/or made en masse in a sweat shop factory, which I will not support. And then one day, I stumbled across these amazing wooden toys on a small Etsy shop, called "Good Shepherd Toys". I saw the Beatrix Potter characters come to life in wooden figurines painted with soft color palletes, intricately detailed garden sets, and, of course my personal favorite, the whimsical classic "Winnie the Pooh" characters. I was hooked immediately. I contacted the owners and placed my first order in July, in anticipation of Christmas. It took a few months for that first order to come, but it was worth every bit of the wait. How incredible to think that each piece was being created by hand, specifically for my boys. Waiting with the boxes under my bed until Christmas was an exercise in patience, but on Christmas morning, I felt like a kid again. I could hardly wait for them to open those beautiful treasures and start creating stories of their own!Every morning since, that basket of wooden toys is the first thing that gets taken out and played with day after day...and though I am still tripping over toys, I don't mind so much.There is nothing quite like seeing their imaginations and creativity unleashed as I watch little stories unfold in their tiny hands... That, my friends, is when the desire to share that kind of joy with others began. The beauty in the slow, gentle, intentional, creativity...each piece unique, special, and made just for you. And that is how Foxgloves and Fables was born... Each and every toy, tool, or learning aide we sell will enhance your child's natural creativity, curiosity, and the desire to create something of their own...whether that be a swashbuckling adventure story or a colorful skyscraper. I am committed to seeking out small businesses that share the same vision as I do, and collaborating together to reach more families that are seeking what we have to offer.
